The first set of the quarterfinal clash at the WTA-1000 clay court tournament in Rome has concluded. Olympic silver medalist in doubles from the 2024 Games and world No. 7, Russian Mirra Andreeva, faced two-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 4, American Coco Gauff. Andreeva claimed the opening set 6-4.


The set lasted 38 minutes. Andreeva converted two of her five break point opportunities, while Gauff managed to convert her only break point chance.
