On May 12, Beijing time, the CBA playoff quarterfinals continued as the Beijing Shougang defeated the Guangdong Southern Tigers 88-73 at home, winning the best-of-three series 2-1 and advancing to the semifinals. Following the game, basketball reporter Jia Lei praised center Zhou Qi’s performance, calling it his finest outing since joining Beijing.
“This is the best game Zhou Qi has played since joining the Beijing team, and it carries the highest significance. His dominance on both ends of the floor changed the course of the game,” Jia Lei commented.
In 25 minutes of action, Zhou Qi shot 5-for-8 from the field and 8-for-12 from the free-throw line, finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals, and 4 blocks. His impact was felt throughout, as he controlled the paint and anchored the defense.
Beijing will now travel to Shanghai on May 15 to face the Shanghai Sharks in the CBA semifinals.
