Spartak Moscow recently triumphed over CSKA in the regional final of the FONBET Russian Cup, securing a spot in the superfinal against Krasnodar. After a 2-1 victory over Rubin Kazan, forward Manfred Ugalde shared his thoughts.
“I’m very happy to have won and ended Rubin’s winning streak. We had a game plan we believed in, and we always aim for an early goal – today it worked perfectly. The derby win had a great effect on the team’s atmosphere. We are fully focused on the final against Krasnodar,” Ugalde told Sport24 correspondent Boris Korolev.
In the match, Spartak took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Christopher Wu opened the scoring in the 4th minute, assisted by Ugalde. Pablo Solari doubled the lead in the 60th minute, again set up by Ugalde. Rubin pulled one back in stoppage time through Alexander Yukic.
